Antioxidants and its benefits
Antioxidants and its benefits.
‘When the subject is skin aging, the best line of action is prevention’.
Our skin suffers every day with the non-removal of makeup from the face, excess of alcohol, smoke, air pollution and specially with the effects of the ultra violet sun rays.
When combating skin aging, the best line of action is prevention. Besides the obligatory sun screen, there are several treatments available designed to slow the skin ageing process; the antioxidants, both as a cream and as pills are good alternatives.
In a world where everyone is talking about oxidants, what exactly are they and what are they good for?
In summary, the antioxidant is a molecule that can inhibit the action of other molecules. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that can release the notorious free radicals which causes cell damage and even cell death. So, antioxidants can help prevent oxidation and consequently the release of free radicals that will cause the aging of the skin.
Where can antioxidants be found?
Serums, creams, oral capsules with a certain concentration of vitamin C, ferulic acid, alpha tocopherol, coenzyme Q10, astaxanthin, vitamin A (retinol) are all excellent tools for fighting skin aging that we should take advantage of.
Always consult a specialist doctor or a dermato-functional physiotherapist that can recommend the best antioxidant for you.
