Brazilian women visual artists based in London will be showing their artwork dialoguing with themes such migration and multiculturalism.

In dialogue with the conference Women in Transition Crossing Borders, Crossing Boundaries a group of Brazilian women visual artists based in London will open an exhibition at St Peter's College in Oxford. This exhibition aims to discuss gender representation, focused in feminine artists, in the visual arts, migration and also, multiculturalism. “Representatives” is a show that puts together artworks from a number of significant Brazilian female artists by contemplating sculptures, video, objects and photographs as a collection of different artistic experiences.

“Representatives” comprises of recent and in progress artworks that are part of the artists’ researches and experiences of producing contemporary art in London. Independent of the reasons and how long they have moved to the city, the flux, the rhythm and the social codes provide good inspiration when it comes to life and work. Permeated by different cultures they are part of symbolic spheres of culture in the new global order. Being part of this very globalised system, they face their challenges when it comes to careers, support, professionalization, studies, identities, colonisation, nationalism, ways of living and being part of two or more cultures simultaneously.
